I have just pre-ordered my copy of Dr Kawashima 2 which is due to come out at the end of the month. It looks as though it has the potential to be as good as the first one. Some info about it:
- The new games in the Daily Training area look really interesting and challenging. Again there appears to be a heavy emphasis on maths activities but hey, if it works then great! The activity that requires you to write what the correct sign in a sum looks like a great idea.
- Brain Training new challenges look like great fun. There is a rock, paper and scissors challenge where you must win or lose various rounds of Rock, Paper, Scissors against the DS. For example, sometimes the DS will show you a rock and tell you that you must lose. You then say “scissors” into the DS Microphone.
- There is also the added bonus of more games to play collaboratively with other players over the built in wifi connection although I am slightly disappointed that you can't play on-line with DS wireless friends around the globe the way you can with many other games.
All in all this looks rather exciting and I can't wait to review it in terms of how this iteration of Dr Kawashima may be used in schools.
I also enjoy the Nintendo Brain training games, but another program I have begun to use is from a company called Posit Science (www.positscience.com) It is done on the computer and has some excellent scientific studies to prove that it can really make a difference. Everyone looking into brain training products should make a stop at their website and also the Brain Fitness channel bfc.positscience.com, which has tons of interesting information on the brain.

This looks great - and with Brain Academy about to be out (or just out) on the Wii. It could be a great brain growing month! OB

I just ordered it! Whoop! Whoop! Bargain from ebay already - less than £19. Can't wait to play. Hoping it'll be here today and that'll be a fab 30th B'day present to myself :) Will it still be testing my brain age? Hmmm...
