Red hot guitar hero plays YYZ

So you think you're good at guitar hero eh?! So did I until I saw this guy play YYZ by Rush on Expert level. I was going to buy Guitar Hero with the Explorer guitar for the Xbox but if means geting whipped by guys of this standard then maybe I'll not bother...

See what I mean.

If you thought that was good take a look at this 8 year old boy playing Psychobilly Freakout on expert...

I'll get my coat!

OMG - WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!!!!!!

I can actually play YYZ in a real guitar. Alex Lifeson absolutely shreds on this tune.

Capture yourself on video and get it online Big D! This expertise must be shared.

My son downloaded a demo of guitar hero for the 360 today, and it struck me as a monumentally pointless waste of time.

I know I sound like a curmudgeonly old sod, but I can't help feeling that it would be better to spend time learning to play a real instrument. It's much harder to learn to play a real instrument, and it takes much longer before you can play songs, but the skill is of great benefit to you for the rest of your life. What benefit is there is being awesome at guitar hero?

Would I being going too far if I suggested that the prior experience of playing guitar hero might lead a youngster to being more likely to get discouraged when faced with the long slow process of genuinely mastering the guitar?

Yep - definitely a grumpy old man ;)
